Willem's Clark Cable Launcher, based on the Clark Cable Release mechanism, is a Water Rocket Launcher which was designed for the pressurising and releasing of missiles with a bottle-neck-shaped nozzle. He found it to be markedly better than previous designs.

[edit] Benefits

  • It is significantly more reliable than a Pop-Top Launcher, which relies on the (variable!) friction of the pop cap to restrain the rocket
  • It allows for the user to release the rocket at a certain pressure and time, which
    • Permits predictable high-speed photography
    • Allows for mechanical trigger mechanisms which are initiated upon launch
    • Allows for the user to only pump in air to a given pressure, increasing safety and predictability of the launch.

[edit] Disadvantages

  • The current design requires an internal launch tube, though launch-tube-less designs do exist[1]
  • The current design is somewhat wobbly with larger (>1.5m) rockets, although this can be compensated for by a launch rod.
