A music production tool developed by Apple. It is a standard feature of all OS past OSX and creates music through the use of prerecorded wavs and adjustable midi sequences.
[edit] Simple Use
To begin using garage band you must first open it from the quick menu at the bottom of the screen. It is then time to input the name of your song, as well as its key and time signatures. From there it is the simple matter of pressing the loop menu at the bottom left, shaped like an eye, to access hundreds of proffesional quality loops. After finding the loops you want it is advisable to click and drag them on to the sequencer (main body) where you can arrange the tracks (layers) and timing of the piece. You can also create loops of you playing, talking etc by creating a new track and recording your sound into the microphone.

[edit] Garage Band in the Music Community
Garage Band is a simple, yet profesional quality product. This being the case, it is used by some profesionals as the backbone of their compositions. It becomes more powerful when integrated with other music production programs. James Morrison, jazz player, uses the program frequently, especially when playing his Morrison Digital Trumpet.
