The Hardcores are a group consisting mainly of Merewether High School students.

The Hardcores have many rules, perhaps the most important one being the replacement of a member's given name with a 'Hardcore Name'. This is mainly for a joke, though it works with the essential group affiliation and outcasting of other people. This is a popular method in subcultures.

[edit] 2004
The Hardcores were created in 2004 by Diesel, Charger and Tron as a real life parody to the other group in the school, K-Unit, run by Kendall and her downy friends. The main appeal of The Hardcores was a group attempting to shut down the stupid actions of K-Unit, who's forceful nazi regime was bringing down morale in the school. Fierce conflict followed between the two gangs. Through persistence and mutual respect for the others around them, The Hardcores came out the victors and K-Unit sunk into history. However, with no enemies,allies or direction, the dominance of The Hardcores in the area left them with no challenges, and their values and goals became forgotten.

After two years, resurrection of The Hardcores was talked of and eventually launched by Charger and Diesel. A website was created and added popularity and awareness of the group to otherwise unknowing people of all ages from all over the world. Articles regarding the Hardcores were put up on Wikipedia and Hardcore Day was established and celebrated on April 5th. The Miss Hardcore Pageant was also held at this time, the winner for 2006 being Ashley Ryan. Cult followers also started emerging, and as the membership base grew (but still stayed exclusive) the members of The Hardcores eventually encountered small scale fame.

Hardcore Day 2007 was celebrated recently and Miss Hardcore Pageant as well as the new Hardcores Eating Contest have yet to be held for 2007. These events will certainly bring a large amount of attention and support.

Membership is extremely selective group, and application is usually done through the site, although many members are known to have been elected into the group on the grounds of doing spectacular anti-societal acts. Examples include Mayhem punching Yackiv in the face and forcing him to finally leave the school, and Hazardman's famous Friday's The Day terrorist threat at Lambton High in 2006.

It is noted that the list of people banned from The Hardcores is longer than the actual memberlist itself. This is to ensure quality of experience and performance in The Hardcores where it's needed. Notable banned people include:
