Dane McMahon-Squires entered Buce as a long time fan, alongside the rest of Novice Strike Force, whom he eventually joined for the 2009 Winter Buce League. Dane became focussed on by Buce's media, as a player who played with his heart, and, once he got going, played aggressively until the end. Dane was known to strive to score one point by the end of the league, a feat he never managed to achieve, despite scoring a crushing own point for his team in one of the matches.
During this time, Dane featured on National Buce News as a presenter, where he received acclaim by players like Michael Read, for being a fresh and needy addition to the Buce News office.
