Rick Osman

Ricky is one of the most influential players in Buce to date. He is a prominent defender and has helped define the competitive spirit of Buce.

[edit] History

Ricky started playing Buce in 2007 and was the last member admitted as one of the Original 8. Despite his arrival being much too late to credit him with helping develop the rules of the game (like the other 7), Ricky's competitive nature, extreme size and intense defensive capability helped him define Buce into a more competitive sport.

2007 and 2008 were controversial years for Ricky Osman, as many players accused him of being too violent and dangerous in the sport. Because there is no high-foot rule in Buce and a relaxed foot-contact rule, Ricky's disregard for others' safety was seen as dishonourable, though technically legal. Ricky was responsible for many injuries during this time. Many older players say that Ricky Osman was the driving force behind the introduction of the 3 Square Rule. During this time, Ricky destroyed the myth of the Double Buce by controversially being the first player inducted into the Double Buce Club.

In the 2008 Buce League, Ricky played for his Quad Team and won Defender of the Year for his strong part in the team's victory. In the 2009 Buce League, he played for The Avalanches only once after being absent for the rest of the league.

However, his influence in the 2009 Winter Buce League was unquestionable. Despite his record for being so game-breaking in such non-competitive times, Ricky showed no slack in 2009's new competitive setting. Attending most of The Avalanches games, he was a pivotal defender and was instrumental in The Avalanches' grand final win over The Sunflowers.
